Description
This nut-and-bolt restored custom 1968 Chevrolet K10 4x4 pickup with its original GM sheet metal was a frame-off rotisserie restoration. The frame was disassembled and then powder-coated black; all body mounts, bushing and fasteners are new. New fuel and brake lines were fitted to the frame and chassis. The powertrain was then installed: a 2005 LS 6.0-liter LQ4 engine backed by a rebuilt 4L80E overdrive transmission with a 241C transfer case, 12-bolt GM rear axle, disc brake front axle with 3.73 gears in both. It was lifted 2 inches with new springs front and rear and rides on all-terrain tires surrounding restored factory 15x8 Rally wheels. The fuel system is a modified Holley electronic module in a factory Blazer tank relocated to the rear of the pickup. The fuel fill door was relocated to the side of the box for ease of filling. When it was time for the body of the pickup, the outside and inside were media-blasted with recycled glass, then epoxy-primed with PPG DP90. Bodywork was completed, then PPG DPS 3055 primer was applied and block-sanded to perfection. The exterior features a period-correct blue in PPG EHP Envirobase with PPG DC4000 clear coat. The interior was painted with the same hue, and an Eggshell flattener was mixed in to match the original GM look for the 1968 model year. Once the exterior was refinished, the inside of the pickup bed received a color-matching LINE-X bed liner on the floor, sides and tailgate. A custom Truxedo roll-up tonneau cover was installed to keep items dry in the bed. All new trim, glass and lights were outfitted on the exterior of this custom-cab pickup truck. When it was time for the interior, the goal was to keep the stock look with Dakota Digital RTX instrumentation. Tilt steering, cruise control, a Vintage Air system and digital entertainment were then added for modern comfort and drivability. The seats, carpet, 4-wheel-drive shifter, dash, visors and door panels in the interior are all new or rebuilt.
Rotisserie-restored; powered by a LQ4 6.0-liter LS engine mated to a 4L80 transmission with an NP241C transfer case. Has disc brakes, 2-inch lift kit, a restored original interior, Dakota Digital dash, a Vintage Air system and an AM/FM digital radio.
