Details

Restored to like-original specifications, this 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible is powered by the L78 396/375hp V8 engine mated to a Muncie M21 4-speed transmission with Muncie shifter and a 3.73 12-bolt posi-traction. It is equipped with front disc brakes, tilt steering column, deluxe interior, power convertible top, console and gauges. This Camaro rides on a set of correct 14x6-inch Rally wheels with stainless-steel trim rings wrapped in Firestone red line tires. The restoration of the

Camaro was extensive and features a correct replacement block, rectangular port heads, Winters aluminum intake, with a correct Holley 4-barrel carburetor, distributor, exhaust manifolds, alternator, brackets, pulleys, radiator, battery, factory traction bar, all correct part numbers and date codes. This Marina Blue Camaro has been meticulously restored to factory specs with only test miles since completion. This car was built in Los Angeles, CA, with a production date of the third week in April 1967. It sold new in Wichita, KS, at Quality Chevrolet in August 1967. It was sold again in March 1969 and June 1972. Shortly after the June 1972 sale, the car was wrecked during a drag race in Paragould, AR. The Camaro sat in disrepair until it was sold in 1992. An extensive nut-and-bolt restoration began. Many years were spent collecting the correct parts to restore this L78 using as many NOS and original restored parts as possible. The 2023 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale will be the first time the Camaro has been in public view since 1972. The Camaro has been authenticated by Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance, LLC, as a real factory-built L78. First-year production numbers for the L78 were 1,138, with only 113 convertibles. Included with the sale is a multitude of vehicle documentation showing ownership since the car was purchased new.
