Details
This custom 1966 Sunbeam Tiger was refurbished and modified in 2005 as a tribute to the race car driven by Doane Spencer in the 1960s, and it was acquired by the current owner in January 2022. It is powered by a replacement 302ci V8 engine with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, AFR 1402 aluminum cylinder heads, tubular exhaust headers, a front-mount oil cooler, MSD ignition components and finned Tiger-branded valve covers. The engine bay displays signatures from Carroll Shelby, Cleo Shelby and
racing driver Lewis Spencer. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and a Dana 44 rear end. The car was reportedly modified in the style of Doane Spencer's Tiger race car in 2005 by David Ley of Dave's Auto Restorations in Pennsylvania. The body is finished in Embassy Black with white over-the-top stripes, and additional exterior details include a hood scoop, a custom Lexan windshield, fender decals, brushed aluminum side mirrors, polished side-exit exhaust outlets, a LeMans-style fuel cap and a V8 decklid badge. Equipment includes a lowered suspension with KONI Classic shocks, a Wilwood dual-circuit brake master cylinder and 4-wheel disc brakes. The cabin features Cobra-style low-back bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-matched carpets and bare aluminum door panels. The interior includes a chrome-finished driver's roll hoop, a center-mounted fire extinguisher, an engine-turned dash panel, a dash-mounted rearview mirror and a 3-spoke steering wheel with a Cobra-branded horn button. Stewart-Warner instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer and gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, water temperature, voltage and fuel level. It rolls on Halibrand-style 15-inch wheels that feature knock-off hubs and wear Yokohama AVS tires that display pre-2000 date codes. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
