Details

This custom vintage 1956 Little Gem Travel Trailer measures 14 feet long from hitch to bumper. The trailer has had a new frame fabricated, identical to the original. It has had a new Dexter 3,500-pound-capacity axle installed, riding on new Coker BFGoodrich reproduction whitewall tires. The wood framing of the trailer had been completely rebuilt. The interior of the trailer is finished with birch paneling and cabinets, finished in Amber shellac, just as they would have done in the '50s. The trailer features many modern amenities that would not have been found in 1956 but have been tastefully concealed so as not to take away from the vintage appeal such as the Marmoleum flooring. The trailer has a new 4-cubic-foot Dometic 3-way refrigerator, which has been custom-painted to make it appear vintage. A 6,000 BTU GE air conditioner provides ample cooling while being hidden from view. The original Maynell 3-burner stove has been restored and features a new porcelain top. A 24-inch TV is tastefully concealed in the rear overhead cabinet and folds down for use. The plumbing system is completely new with PEX lines, a 20-gallon freshwater tank and a 20-gallon gray water tank. Off-grid, water is available through a new Shurflo pump, drawn from the freshwater tank. Hot water is provided by a brand-new Dometic 6-gallon propane water heater. An outdoor shower has been added; however, the trailer has no toilet facilities. All gas lines and equipment are new. The trailer has two new aluminum 20-pound propane tanks. All the electrical system is new, featuring modern circuit breaker protection and 12-gauge wires for 110 volts with a 30-amp service. Interior lighting is 12-volt LED. All fixtures are new or restored. All 12-volt wiring is new, and a new 50-amp converter/charger maintains the house battery. A new Group 27 deep-cycle battery has been installed. All windows have been resealed, and all exterior panels have been sealed. All exterior running lights are new or restored. The trailer has been featured in Hagerty magazine and is thoroughly documented. **TITLED AS A 1956 SCHIEBOUT**
