Details
When it debuted in 1982, Chevrolet's all-new, third-generation F-body Camaro and its Pontiac Firebird stablemate redefined American high performance with great looks, sleek, low-drag styling, and exceptionally good handling and braking worthy of their European archrivals. While straight-line performance took a back seat to all their other attributes, the new F-body models were soon available with additional power by 1984 with Chevrolet's hot new RPO L69 option delivering 190 factory-rated
horsepower from 305 cubic inches. If that doesn't sound like much of an improvement over the standard 145-horsepower 305 V-8, the L69 mill made the Camaro and Firebird very serious performance cars with quarter-mile acceleration closely rivaling the old factory supercars of the late-1960s/early 1970s. Offered with 210 actual miles at the time of writing, this 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was acquired by the seller in mid-2021 via a dealer, who reportedly acquired the car from its first registered owner. Finished in black over gray upholstery, it is powered by a 5.0-liter RPO L69 H.O. V8 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Other highlights include 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, and a factory AM/FM cassette stereo system. Other features include fog lamps, matte black hood inserts, Z/28 badging, sport side mirrors, a decklid spoiler, and Camaro-branded mud flaps. The well-appointed interior cabin features seats upholstered in gray vinyl with striped cloth inserts, matching door panels, and gray carpets. Amenities include climate control, a Delco AM/FM cassette stereo and Extended Range Sound system, a center console with floor-shift lever, and a remote hatch release. A three-spoke steering wheel frames factory instrumentation including an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, voltage, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 208 miles. The 5.0-liter L69 H.O. V8 is equipped with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and produced 190 horsepower and 240 ft/lbs of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Factory 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels wear 215/65 Goodyear Eagle GT tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. The CARFAX report shows no accidents and also shows registration history in Pennsylvania from its first entry in May 2011. Chevy's top Camaro during the mid-1980s performance wars against Ford's potent 5.0-liter Mustang, this 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a low-mile example in the L69 tune.
