Details

The body was removed and sandblasted down to bare metal on this 1966 Karmann Ghia custom roadster. The body was sent to John Holloway (Holloway Cars) for a two-and-a-half-year body and paint restoration and was finished in Porsche Miami Blue. A 1962 Corvette fiberglass cover was modified and adapted with its original hinges to fit the rear seat area, giving it a Porsche speedster look. The engine was built by JRC Enterprises in Paradise, CA, and is upgraded to 2286cc and rated at 140hp. The

transmission was built by Joe Chiro Performance VW and has a taller second and third gear with a Freeway Flyer fourth gear. Joe Chiro also did an engine-out modification to the front seal and added an EMPI sway bar to the rear of the car. Fuel induction is by way of a pair of Italian Weber 40mm carburetors. It has custom-made exhaust headers with new mufflers and tailpipes. The chassis with new pans installed were powder-coated and new drop front spindles were installed, along with front and rear disc brakes and a set of KYB shock absorbers. Equipped with adapters to install five-lug factory Porsche 15-inch Fuchs or 356 chrome wheels, this Ghia also received all-new cabling, wire loom, a new front windshield and a retro-looking Bluetooth and USB port stereo. All lights are LED, and new LED gauges by Speedhut were installed. The interior features a Race Mark steering wheel re-covered and stitched in black leather, a rear seat delete metal pan to create a spacious luggage compartment, German square-weave Charcoal Gray carpet with custom-made Coco Mats, and a pair of 1968 911 factory seats were completely rebuilt and installed. The car is capped off with a silver powder-coated custom roll bar and matching vinyl stripes to break up the blue paint. Has 750 miles since restoration.
