Details

This Ford GT40 R continuation by Superformance is a period correct right hand drive car with the right-hand sill mounted shifter, roll cage and R-version suspension and is titled as a 1965 Ford GT40. Along with being registered in the Shelby registry, this incredible car comes with a proven race history, it was race-prepared by Holman Moody, who along with Shelby American prepared the original GT40s for Ford in the 1960's. Zappa Racing then campaigned the car successfully in the SVRA events from

2012-2015. The current Ford 302ci Dart block engine was stroked to create 363ci producing approximately 550hp and was built to run on pump quality gasoline and is capable of nearly 7,000 rpm. The interior details are true to the original GT40 but with the addition of the limited factory Superformance R model built-in roll cage and original spec 'Motolita' steering wheel with quick release boss for easier ingress/egress. The car has benefited from extensive mechanical maintenance and period updating. The interior features seats designed and made per the drawings of the originals but with aged black leather. The passenger door interior panel is signed by 60's Le Mans racer Brian Redman. The chassis has a total of 84 hours use since it was created, and the current engine has about 10 hours of use since new. The period-correct 5-speed RBT gearbox has just been rebuilt with a new case. It has less than one hour of use since being rebuilt. Extensive documentation of work carried out on the vehicle are available with the car. The current owner retired the car from racing and brought the car back to a more street-able form. There are some spare parts and a spare set of wheels that come with the purchase of the car. Includes the SVRA racing logbook, as well as the original Superformance manuals and set up notes. With some minor modification, this car could be used again as a historic race car or enjoyed on the road/show car as is.
