Description
This 1931 Cord L29 Rumble-Seat Cabriolet is a relic of the Jazz Age. It owes its iconic design to its namesake inventor, E.L. Cord. This L29 Cabriolet is one of only 4,400 sold between 1929 and 1931, before the market crash shuttered the Cord factory and halted the sale of these opulent machines, Contributing to their interest as a prized and collectible icon of the Classic Era. Now fully restored, this piece of automotive history is being offered to the public from a private collector in Honolulu, HI. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 301ci Lycoming Straight-8 engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. Its lack of a transmission tunnel provides flat floor panels, which gives this stylish L29 a roomy interior, seating two in the front and a rumble-seat for guests in the back, offering leather hand-stitched seats. No expense has been spared in this Cord Cabriolet's restoration, presented in a Royal Blue with silver accents and red coach stripes on the fenders, body and chassis. The folding top has been fully restored with high-quality stained wood and polished stainless-steel hardware, and it's covered in dark blue canvas. The driver's compartment is trimmed in Indigo Blue leather, complementing the outside color scheme. Additionally, the integrated shift lever and instrumentation panel is offered in the stylish dash design of the era with chrome trim throughout. In a testament to the owner's attention to detail, the engine compartment has been maintained with correct paint colors, metal finishes and period-correct lacquer wiring. The chassis and suspension have been refinished to the same standard as the body. The wire wheels were restored with silver-painted hubs and spokes, with chrome trim rings and knock-offs lending to the car's distinctive look. Amenities included with this 1931 Cord include a golf bag compartment in the rear, two matching spare tires and a trunk in the rear for sensible storage on your outings. This Cord comes equipped with Lady Stem spare tire-mounted mirrors reproduced by White Glove Collection, and genuine Woodlite headlights. The original headlights and a Lalique Crystal Eagle hood ornament will also be included with the purchase of this vehicle. Harry Miller and Cornelius Van Ranst contributed to the design and innovative engineering of the L29, complemented by Alan Leamy's distinctive long and low body styling, necessitated by the Straight-8 engine and its innovative front-wheel-drive system, making it the first front-wheel-drive production car manufactured in America. The L29 was a success both in America and abroad. **NOT EMISSIONS-COMPLIANT IN ALL 50 STATES**
