Details
This 1956 Ford Thunderbird has a 312ci V8 engine and Ford-O-Matic transmission. Additionally, this model features power steering, hardtop and chrome wire-spoke wheels with radial whitewall tires. This Thunderbird is very well-maintained in a heated garage and is in good driving condition. The 1956 Ford Thunderbird 2-door was a series of three years released in 1955. Thunderbird created a new personal luxury car equipped with standard features and new interiors. For many, it was the road trip car for two. As with most automakers in the ‘50s, the car was updated every year with new sheet metal and other features. In 1956 it debuted with the spare tire gone from the inner trunk and mounted as a Continental-style spare for additional trunk space. The exhaust now existed through the rear bumper, at the corners. Hardtops, with porthole windows and side vents were incorporated to the front fender for airflow into the cabin, 12-volt electrical system, and round heater control knobs were added to the 1956 model year. Sales peaked at only 15,631, which is the fewest of all “Baby Birds,” making them highly collectible. This 1956 Ford Thunderbird convertible is well-preserved and ready to drive, packed with a host of options that start with a powerful 312ci V8 offering 225hp mated to an automatic transition and 3.31:1 rear-axle ratio. Optional equipment includes power steering, telescoping column, wire-spoke wheels, auxiliary porthole hardtop, back-up lights, outside rearview mirror, heater/defrost, Thunderbird floor mats, wide whitewall tires updated to radials and Town & Country radio. The chrome is extremely well-kept original while exterior paint has been beautifully refinished. The complete interior of our gorgeous Ford Thunderbird, carpet and interior upholstery, is like new. The Thunderbird seen here runs and drives quite well, and would make a terrific investment for any driver, car show attendee or parade-going enthusiast. The power steering and power brakes have been repaired or replaced, but still need proper adjustment by a qualified mechanic.
