Details
This one-off, custom-built 1955 Chevy Bel Air convertible is powered by a special Chevrolet Ram Jet Fast Burn 350ci engine. This engine was smoothed, painted and treated to a Street & Performance serpentine system and is mated to a Richmond 6-speed manual transmission. The hand-fabricated, jet-coated exhaust system provides a sweet sound. This vehicle is equipped with a custom-built chassis featuring full air-ride suspension, Centerforce hydraulic clutch assembly, 9” Currie sheet metal rear end
with PowerTrax differential, 3:73 gears and Dutchman axles. Angle iron was integrated into the rocker panels to provide additional strength. Stopping power is provided by a set of Baer Performance brakes. The body has many modifications, including front fenders that have been stretched 1-1/2 inches, wheel openings were moved forward 1 inch, the body has custom side moldings, the hood was pancaked and the bird was removed. A custom-made fiberglass enclosure, painted to match the exterior, is part of the interior trunk design. A stock hydraulic power convertible top system was used, recessed down in the body so that a smooth tonneau cover is all that is needed for cover, while the windshield was chopped 1 inch. The front bumper was shortened 2 inches and moved back into the body 2 inches. The rear bumper was shortened, and the side returns lengthened to match the body lines. This ride sits on Colorado Custom wheels, and steering is handled via a Colorado Custom wheel on a stainless-steel Ididit tilt steering column. Rocky Hinge provided electric remote-opening taillight housing for accessing the gas tank after the original opening was smoothed over. The windows are power-operated, and the tunes come from a Pioneer stereo with JL Speakers and a 10” subwoofer. The rest of the interior sports a custom-made dash that wraps onto the front doors with a ‘57 Chevy “gun sight” clock insert, triple tube gauge housing, leather seats and door panels, and the console runs the entire length of the car with a waterfall separating the rear seat.
