Showing just over 46,000 original miles (mileage not indicated on title), this 1968 GT500 convertible, Shelby #02450, is a great example. Listed in the Shelby Registry, the original Lime Gold with Saddle interior convertible was delivered new on February 27, 1968. Power comes from a matching-numbers 428ci police interceptor big-block engine backed by a C6 automatic transmission. 1968 was the first year of the regular-production Shelby convertible that included a roll bar as standard equipment.

With design assistance from Ford, the 1968 Shelby's fiberglass panels were updated with a new nose, hood with forward-placed twin scoops and a rear end with sequential 1965 Thunderbird taillights. The wood-grain-trimmed deluxe interior was enhanced by a special Shelby console with Stewart-Warner gauges and a thick padded armrest with embossed Shelby snake logo. Capable but smooth handling was provided by Mustang's heavy-duty suspension that was enhanced by unique progressive-rate springs, adjustable Gabriel shocks and a thicker front sway bar. The Shelby GT500 had a 428/360hp police interceptor engine with an aluminum high-rise intake manifold, 735 cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor, open-element oval air cleaner and finned aluminum Cobra valve covers. It had a color change to Midnight Blue with Parchment interior, black top and the original 10-spoke Shelby aluminum wheels with Goodyear tires.
