Details

Hubert Platt's last project car, a documented re-creation of his 1967 NHRA-winning car is called Georgia Shaker. The original 1967 Paul Harvey Ford Fairlane set an NHRA record on July 2, 1967. Hubert wanted this race car to be built using as many authentic old racing parts as possible. He procured the 427 engine from Jake Lowe, a former racing adversary. The hood was purchased from Tom Hardy, Hubert's friend. The engine is a true 427 late-1966 side-oiler with dual Holley carbs, pushing the power

through a Ford Toploader manual 4-speed coupled to the engine through an Ansen bellhousing. The dual Holley carburetors came from his racing buddy Mike Thomas. Some driveline items came from Jackie Jones, such as the Holley electric fuel pumps, Ansen bellhousing, gauges, shifter and body trim. The rear-end sports a Ford 9' and Detroit locker with big 11' brakes. Hubert put his last remaining days and heart into this car. He autographed the glove box door and signed the build documents. While building the car, an autographed original photo of this car was found on eBay with Hubert's famous autograph, and it goes with the car. Hubert wanted the car to look like it was raced last weekend and specified it was not to be built with all-new parts. The car was lettered by Larry West, the original man who lettered some of his cars back in the day. The roll bar was installed the same way as back then. Hubert provided an original battery cable (welding wire) from one of his wrecked cars. He even checked and rebuilt the Holley carbs, when they were put on they were correct and needed no adjustments. Some of the items included with the car are the log book, original signed photo of the car, all-original build documents, his original Georgia license plate with his race car driver's license number on it, a signed t-shirt and a photo album of the car in progress.
