This magazine-featured 1972 Motion Moray GT Corvette is a rare bridge car between the front-end bodywork of a Motion Maco Shark and rear-end treatment of the Motion Manta Ray supercars. The car's 2006 frame-up restoration returned the car exactly how Joel Rosen of Motion Performance envisioned the car in 1972. All the original 14 Motion Performance body modifications are present and account for, including the exaggerated tilting one-piece fiberglass nose and hood assembly with large hood
blister, cartoonish custom fender flares, side gills, integrated grilles, grafted flat rear window, fiberglass racing mirrors and blocking rear spoiler, similar to that found on a second-generation Camaro. The left T-top has been signed by a former Corvette Chief Engineer, Dave McLellan. The right T-top has been signed by Joel Rosen himself. This Corvette is powered by its original factory-stamped matching-numbers 454 engine, block and transmission with only 60,000 miles, (title reads miles exempt). Just below the custom hood grates, is a fly-eye Motion air cleaner that sits on top of a Holley 750 carburetor complete with a pressure fuel gauge. At either side of the carburetor, Signature Series aluminum Motion valve covers sit on modified 427 heads. In between those heads is the car's original GM intake that houses a stock distributor, which sends sparks from a stock ignition to Taylor Performance wires. At the side of the motor are coated long-tube Hooker headers that send exhaust into the amazing-sounding Motion side pipes. The interior of this remarkable 1972 is a near to the original car. The unrestored dashpad shows no signs of warping or fading; the original gauges are clear and work well. In the center of the dash, the auxiliary gauges and warning lights are sandwiched between controls for the wipers and aftermarket bolt-in FM cassette player that looks good enough to be correct equipment. Original diamond-turfed vinyl upholstery by Dondi begins around the chrome trim and flows onto the bucket seats, into the rear storage area and onto the door panels. The car's original steering wheel is complete with the Corvette horn button. 4-speed manual transmission. In front of the passenger is another prominent Joel Rosen signature, spanning the dash pad in silver ink. This '72 Corvette is a rare Cinderella story that added a large piece of forgotten history to the Motion Performance legacy.
