One of only 1,690 Skylarks produced in 1953. The 1953 Skylark was part of GM's futuristic 1953 Motorama display, featuring new innovations like Dynaflow automatic transmission, power steering and 322ci OHV Fireball V8 engine - better known as the 'Nailhead' - that powered Buicks from 1953 to 1970. At $5,000, the Skylark was as expensive as the average house in 1953. This example received a nut-and-bolt restoration that was completed in 2013. Refinished in the original Reef Blue metallic with
matching leather interior, it features a rebuilt 322ci V8 engine and 3-speed automatic transmission, a 12-volt electrical system and the full gamut of power accessories: power steering and brakes, top, windows and front seat. There is even a power antenna for the Selectronic signal-seeking radio. From its interior to the immaculate engine compartment and undercarriage, this outstanding first-year Skylark impresses in every detail, including the Kelsey Hayes 40-spoke wire wheels restored by the highly respected Rally America.
