Details

This model was delivered to W. H. Harley with a Pall Mall body. In 1929 Mr. Harley sold his car back to Rolls-Royce and it received a remarkable new Special Riviera Town Brougham body, or Riviera Town Car for short. This second body, which it currently wears, is considered one of Brewster's coachwork greatest achievements; it is as elegant as it is unique. The luxurious two-person rear seat is in an enclosed cabin, while the front row is open-air. The body is sleek and sporting, while

maintaining the gravitas of a prewar Rolls-Royce. Only six Springfield Sliver Ghost Riviera Town Cars were made, and this one is thought to be the only example still in existence. The first owner of the Riviera was A.L. Humes of New York City, who took delivery on December 7, 1929. In this first ownership the Riviera Town Car received its most striking details: the floral fabric upholstery on the rear seat, Venetian mahogany inlay, and the gold-plated trim and accessories. The fully documented ownership history leads to Dr. Earl Heath, the fourth owner, who gave the car a full 100-point restoration. It won first prize at the Hershey Concours in 1971 and 1972, and in 2013 was on the lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This Riviera Town Car has also been featured three times in the National Rolls-Royce Owners' Club magazine, the Flying Lady. Today this Rolls-Royce presents very well. Although its last full exterior restoration was in the 1970s, the body is still in excellent shape and the chrome has attractive and appropriate patina. The matching numbers engine underwent a full rebuild in 2011 by a marque expert, and accordingly the car drives excellently. The unique decorative accessories add to the personality and value of the car, especially as they were installed by the body's first owner. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
