This nationally recognized, judged and awarded 1968 ? R Code Mustang GT fastback 428 Cobra Jet is rarer than the total 1968 Shelby production, with only 1,044 units produced. The professionally finished, meticulously maintained, total nut and bolt restoration on this R Code Mustang includes the correct Holley C80F-9510-AB 4 barrel, C6 3-speed automatic transmission with R servo and gear reducer, 9' rear with 3.91 Traction-Lok, power disc brakes, correct NOS smog equipment with correctly dated
canister, rebuilt Carter X fuel pump, factory Philco AM radio with NOS copper radio loop. The concours-correct exterior finish in its original Wimbledon White color which is Code M, flat black hood stripes, black C stripe and correct black vinyl interior with buckets and console, seat belts and shoulder harnesses, GT equipment group, fog lamps, dual exhaust with GT tips, correct 1968 1/2 hood scoop. The original black Buck Tag has been attached to right front inner fender, correct lower control arms with jacking tabs, 4-rivet upper control arms, NOS clutch fan and distributor, silver valve cover gaskets mated to the valve cover by staples, phosphate parts include the hood latch, hood hinges, coil hold down and gas line support bracket. The undercarriage is the correct red oxide and the car is mounted on its original argent GT wheels and hubcaps with Goodyear Polyglas tires, with matching spare with correct hold down plate. The car is documented with Deluxe and Elite Marti Reports. All of the nationally judged awards accompany the car. This R Code Mustang is a nine-time Mustang Club of America Gold Trailered Concours winner, a two-time MCA Conservator Gold Winner, 2008 1st Place at the 40th Anniversary Cobra Jet Reunion (competing against more than 30 of its equals), 2010 awarded the MCA's coveted Conservator Grille Medallion #60, 2010 Junior and Senior #W22764, Grille Medallions from the Antique Automobile Club of America, Hemming's Concours d'Elegance Best Muscle Car, in 2012 it qualified for and won 1st Place at the AACA's Grand National.
