Details

This is a 1955 Pro-Touring Thunderbird with over 40 modifications. Custom stainless steel grille, bumperettes removed, bolt holes filled and turn signals repositioned behind the grille. Headlights have been Frenched in to eliminate the seam between the headlight and the fender. Rides on 17' Billet Specialties aluminum wheels with BFGoodrich G-Force sport tires on a Mustang II-style front end. Power disc brakes all around and power rack & pinion. Side vent trim covers functional engine

compartment ventilation. Hood scoop was extended 4' forward to accommodate the air cleaner on the Demon Six Shooter carburetor. Under the hood is a 347cid Stroker engine with approximately 400hp. Pro-Comp aluminum heads, roller lifters, roller rockers, electric fuel pump, Vintage Air Frontrunner pulley system, Mallory ProMaster distributor and ceramic headers. Cooled by a 2,500cfm thermostatically-controlled electric fan flow-through ventilation system. New Magnaflow exhaust now exists via the rocker panels just ahead of the rear wheels. The original 8.8' 3.31 rear axle has been retained and narrowed 5 1/2' and the wheel tubs widened to allow for the installation of wider tires. Ride-Tech Shockwave air suspension and Ride Tech 4-link rear bars. The original shifter has been modified and relocated to handle the AOD transmission with a Classic Instruments shift gauge. The completely custom interior features bucket seats wrapped in Thunderbird Blue and black glove leather. Dash has been molded to form a smooth transition to the custom console. The air ride controls are under the cover just ahead of the shifter. The aluminum accent panels on the dash, door panels and console are hand-fabricated and jeweled to retain that vintage look. The modern vintage-looking stereo houses the typical AM/FM radio with USB and 6 CD changer. The two tone leather wrapped banjo steering wheel mates perfectly with the tilt steering column. Vintage Air air conditioning and heat. Custom carpet with Thunderbird Blue leather accent stripes. Trunk is completely upholstered with leather-bound carpet and the Thunderbird script is prominently displayed. The battery has been recessed into the trunk floor in a special housing out of sight. Complete photo documentation of the restoration/modifications by Tom Maruska accompany the car.
