The 1929 Hudson that you see before you is a classic car of the roaring twenties. Very elegant and a great tour car. Cream of the crop for Hudson in 1929. The gorgeous Phaeton rode on a 139' wheelbase chassis that was built specifically for custom-made Biddle and Smart bodies. With a list price of $2,200, Hudsons from this year are regarded by some as the best ever made. Biddle and Smart supplied Hudsons with aluminum bodies only. The Phaeton featured two side mounts, a running-board mounted spotlight, turning pilot ray lights and wheels. Powering the Phaeton was a 288/92hp 6 cylinder engine. The secret to the Super Six's success was the remarkable smoothness of the engine, with the crankshaft carefully balanced by a series of precision-engineered counterweights. In reference to the engine, the Super Six was legendary and pulled harder and faster than most eights of the day. It would take a Duesenberg to outrun a Hudson. This combined with the rarity of the Biddle and Smart Sport Phaeton coachwork make this example one of the finest and most significant Hudsons ever to come on the open market. This classic Hudson comes from a significant Hudson collection. It is in great mechanical condition and has been original restored with the proper parts.
