This is the first of 50 Chevrolet Camaro Indianpolis 500 Pace Cars. The car was driven during a parade lap in front of the field of 33 starters shortly before the green flag flew at The Greatest Spectacle in Racing on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The car has currently just over 100 actual miles. The Pace Car features a Summit White exterior accented with orange stripes and door graphics. The interior is trimmed in orange leather including the front seat headrests

embossed with the Indy 500 logo along with white door panels and instrument panel trim. The instrument panel trim features extensions of the orange exterior stripes. The color combination is similar to the design used on 1969 Camaro Pace Car replicas-cars which have become among the most popular Camaros in the collector car world. The car is equipped with a 400hp V8 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission enabling it to perform its duties leading the 33-car Indy 500 field. This car is an SS convertible model fitted with the 2SS equipment package and RS package. The inside of the trunk was autographed on race day by Mario Andretti, winner of the 1969 Indy 500 along with having one of the most decorated racing careers of any driver, and 4-time 500 winner AJ Foyt. The 2011 Camaro Convertible is the 22nd Chevrolet and the 7th Camaro chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500. 2011 was the 100th anniversary of the race and also the centennial year of Chevrolet. The car comes with many Indianapolis publications from race day, including the Official Starting Field publication, the track edition of the Indianapolis Star newpapaper and Sports Illustrated magazine special centennial edition and program, still wrapped in plastic. The car also comes with several limited edition Hot Wheels die-cast editions of the pace car along with photos of it doing its lap.
