Details

AFX, Gasser 427 Cammer powered race car. The engine is a fresh 482cid rebuild, original Cammer engine #274, has Hilborn injection and computer controlled using a carabine computer. Has custom made headers, 9 qt oil pan and with baffles. Scat nodular crank, diamond forged pistons, 13.0 compression, scat forged rods, Ferrera valves bore is 4.251' and stroke is 4.5'. bearings, JR Cushman steel billet stub cam, Cammer Concepts timing chain, trunk mounted battery with external shut-off switch, MSD 6AL ignition, electric radiator fan, hi-torque starter, polished timing cover, Stewart Warner vintage gauges from 1965 when car was built, Autometer tack and shift light, dual accelerator return springs, Weldon fuel pump and pressure regulator with liquid filled gauge and steel braided lines 3/8'. Transmission is a 6C with 2,500rpm stall, reverse shift pattern, 9' nodular spool, Ford rear end with 4.56 gears, 31 spline axles built by Mark Williams in 1965, as well as the roll cage, Halibrand original 3.5'x15' front and 10'x15' rear wheels with Goodyear slicks and also has traction bars and clamped rear springs. Original Simpson chute from 1965, 5-point Crow Industries seat belt and line lock. This Mustang was built in 1965-1966 and ran division 5 until October 17th, 1971 when it was retired, the best time it ran was 9.97 at 137.4mph with a weight of 3,150lbs with driver in Denver. It has always been a race car, so never seen any bad weathers, so the body is perfect, never any rust, never wrecked and always garaged. Found in a metal building 40 miles east of Cheyenne, WY in June of 2000 where it sat for many years. It was originally raced in a light blue color and had Wynns Friction Proofing and Penzoil stickers on it. Quarter windows and stripes still has the original metal flake blue steering wheel from 1965, was raced at CDR, Pueblo, CA at the Hot Rod Reunions. **From the Jim Mangione Collection**
