One of the early-order, serial #224, L72 427/450hp Corvettes that were subject to the famous Engineering Change Recommendation changing the horsepower rating from 450hp to 425hp, this Rally Red L72 convertible is professionally restored and thoroughly documented. Accompanying records show the car was purchased new at Central Chevrolet in Atlanta, Georgia. Despite its revised rating of 425hp, the L72 engine packed the most punch of the 1966 lineup, with 11:1 compression, larger valves, a

large-bore Holley 4-barrel on an aluminum intake manifold, a solid lifter cam and 4-bolt mains. It all came together for a blistering torque rating of 460ft/lbs. Standard equipment with the 427 included posi-traction and a close-ratio Muncie 4-speed, F41 suspension, heavy-duty half shafts and universal joints. This car's J50 power disc brakes were a prudent addition to the sales order. This beautiful convertible's Rally Red finish and red interior present one of the most striking and rare color combination of this vintage, especially finished off as this one is with its order side exhaust and finned aluminum knock-off wheels.
