1961 PLYMOUTH FURY CUSTOM 2 DOOR HARDTOP

Details

This car, named 'Outkast,' is a contemporary custom. The roof is chopped 1.5' and windshield is laid back 1'. All glass is flush mounted, the side wing windows were removed. The outside door handles were shaved and custom body lines were added to the doors and front fenders. The fenders were modified for Jaguar XJS composite headlights. The hood extends 4' downward creating a lower and wider opening for a one-off billet aluminum grille. The original taillights were shaved from the body and

replaced by LED. All seams, welds and body lines were smoothed and molded. The underbody was molded, painted body color and polished front to rear. A wraparound dash and door panels and full length center console are hand built. One-off instrumentation. All leather work, stitching and sculpting was performed by Jim McFall. A hand built 2x4' mild-steel square-tube frame. Kugel Komponents were used throughout the suspension including matched front and rear cast stainless steel control arms. The rear is independent with four coilover shocks, its full polished and plated and houses a 3.0:1 gear set. The front features coilover shocks with rack & pinion steering and, it too, is fully polished and plated. Budnik Cannon billet aluminum wheels. Outkast is powered by a 1968 426cid HEMI engine. All machine work was performed by legendary HEMI builder Gary Ostrich. The engine features a solid roller camshaft, a one-off electric Fuel Injection unit from Street Performance and an Electromotive crank trigger ignition system. A polished billet aluminum electric water pump and an aluminum radiator. The transmission is a 727 Torqueflight Streetfighter unit from TCI with a 2,500 stall torque converter. Polished stainless button head fasteners are used throughout the entire vehicle. Among its many awards, it received a Grand Champion Street Machine at the Car Craft Nationals in 2007, a Fine-Nine Award at Darryl Starbird's 2008 event in Tulsa, OK and an ISCA World of Wheels CASI Cup in 2008. Awards do not go with car. It has also been featured in two national publications, 'Super Rod Magazine' and MOPAR Collectors Guide.
