Details
I purchased this Amphicar in Greybull, Wyoming, in 1975 from a dealer who had three cars left when they quit manufacturing them. Two cars had been sold earlier. I got the last one, a blue 1967 model. It had been in a small garage since new. I put it in my garage until 1981 when divorce forced me to rent storage until 1990, when I built a special storage unit for it. When I got the car, it had 200+ miles on it. At present, it has 510 original miles on the odometer. I have had it in a lake two times. Once there were 3' whitecaps and a strong wind. It handled very well. It cut through the waves like a boat, staying on an even keel. These cars were Coast Guard approved seaworthy to operate on the ocean. My car is blue with a light cream vinyl top. The interior doors and seats are yellow and white vinyl. The tires at this time are the original German made and have very minor weather checks and very wide off-white sidewalls. I have touched up some small paint chips.
