Designed by Zora Duntov in 1961 and fitted with the original numbers matching 283cid/270hp high performance engine with 2x4 carburetors and close ratio 4-speed Muncie transmission, this car has won the coveted NCRS Top Flight Award in 2000 and has been driven only a few miles since its award-winning rotisserie restoration. It is equipped with Wonder Bar radio, heater and white wall tires. Finished in original Honduras Maroon with white coves and black interior. Included is the original owner's manual signed by Zora Duntov, the NCRS Certificate and original Window Sticker. In 1961, Duntov wanted to incorporate the unparalleled performance of the Corvette with improved handling, sleeker styling and a more comfortable cockpit. In his legendary wisdom he had accomplished his goal for the 1961 Corvette. The combination of styling, performance and improved legroom was so well received that it changed the direction of the American roadster. Few Corvettes have been worthy of the judging standards set forth by the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) even fewer have held up to their scrutiny and have been awarded Top Flight, one of the highest honors bestowed by the society. This fine automobile has joined that elite group, having been awarded its Top Flight status in 2000.
