making a statement wherever it went , the mini cooper was a car to lust after. with fully independent suspension, a lightweight body and nimble steering, the mini was an instant success following its introduction in 1959. production of the mini seemed endless: it was in many ways the peoples car of the united kingdom. widely popular in the uk and abroad, even those of great wealth and style called themselves mini owners, most notably the beatles. without a doubt of the most pure automotive designs of the post war period, minis were so successful as race competitors, many enthusiasts referred to them simply as giant killers. this spirited mini was imported from holland to the united states following its high point restoration by berry smits restorations of the netherlands. the current vendor reports that the mini was also a left hand drive example having spent much of its life in holland. rebuilt around a new heritage body shell, the mini features many unique upgrades including brakes, instruments, as well as, several wood and pickett period accessories. other work included the installation of a new interior and suspension, as well as, an engine rebuild for the 1300cc sports engine. the engine was also fitted with electronic fuel injection for better performance. the mini offered here represents an opportunity to own one of the greatest engineering designs of all time.
