In 2007, three automotive icons collaborated to build a limited production run of just 100 Shelby GT Barrett-Jackson Edition Mustangs for the public: Shelby American, Ford Motor Company and Barrett-Jackson. Sold for the 2008 model year, primarily in the Scottsdale, AZ market. This specific car is the first prototype (serial number 08SGT0001P) of its kind and was used in the promotional materials as one of two photo cars. As a prototype, this specific car is actually a 2007 model year car

converted to 2008 Shelby GT specifications. It is also the first of only 10 of these cars to be a convertible with a manual transmission, Hurst shifter and Shaker 1000 stereo system. These 100 cars were specially serial numbered and badged and were all black with red stripes which were the only Shelby GTs offered in this color combination during the 2008 model year run. Shelby GTs include power upgrades to 319hp with 330ft/lbs of torque from the 4.6 Liter engine with special exhaust and cold air intake. These cars also include upgraded suspension featuring special springs, dampers, sway bars and 3.55:1 gear ratio rear end.
