This 1992 LTI Carbodies is the London taxi that drove actor Daniel Craig (in character as James Bond) to Queen Elizabeth II in a TV skit for the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. This example of a traditional London cab has been kept as original as possible, with only a very light restoration having been carried out. This LTI Carbodies London taxi is fitted with an original Nissan TD27 engine. The engine has been serviced and the thermostat and thermostat housing replaced. The wiring has
been checked and parasitic draws resolved, as this vehicle will probably be displayed more than driven. A battery isolator has been installed in the engine bay and it has a new battery. The original housing for the mandatory engine shutoff switch has been replaced. Wheel bearings have been checked and brakes have been cleaned and checked. The area around the rear window and roof has been cut out and replaced with welded panels and brand-new roof vinyl has been fitted. The 'For Hire' and 'Taxi' lights have been repaired. The driver's seat was fully reupholstered, including new foam, while all other seats have been kept original. A brand-new roof lining has been fitted, along with a new custom-made rear parcel shelf and high-level brake light to complete the refreshed appearance of the interior. Part of the internal glass divider screen has been removed, which was done to accommodate a film camera in the passenger seat area of the taxi to film towards the rear for interior shots, as some of the attraction of this vehicle lies in its TV and film history; it was left as is to be more authentic to its history. The removed glass section is, however, supplied with the vehicle should it be desired to put it back in place. This is the actual taxi featured in the Haynes FX4 Black Cab Enthusiast Manual (a copy of which will be included with the vehicle).
