Description

Summary

Powered by a 360ci V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission, with 4-wheel drive. Originally from New Mexico. Approximately 18,000 miles since 4.5-year, frame-off restoration to factory-original condition.

Details

This 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer originally from New Mexico was purchased in 2016 and underwent a frame-off restoration that took 4.5 years to complete. With all matching-numbers, every component and accessory were entirely disassembled and rebuilt to new specifications. Some parts were replaced with new, quality parts only if absolutely necessary. This included but was not limited to the interior components like door-lock actuators, power-window motors and systems, and a complete under-dash overhaul. All lights were replaced with new. The headliner no longer sags. Soundproofing was added throughout. The engine bay and all the components were completely rebuilt, as well as the complete drivetrain and suspension system. New leaf springs custom-made to the original factory specifications were installed. All brake and transmission lines were replaced with stainless steel. It now has an all stainless-steel Flowmaster exhaust system. The frame and all chassis components were restored using the proper POR-15 technique. All rubber parts, weather stripping, seals and hoses were replaced with OEM or aircraft-grade. All vacuum hoses were replaced with thick-walled silicone hoses and are color-coded. The body was straight, and no filler was necessary. The yellowed plastic drip edges were replaced with fabricated stainless steel that matches the original plastic. All electrical wiring, switches and harnesses were redone and are in new wire looms. At the end of the restoration the vehicle was painted, and it has extra coats of clearcoat so that future buffing may be done without worry. The exterior wood vinyl used 3M material. The factory-original radio still works.
