Details
This 1948 Allard L-Type roadster is powered by a Ford Flathead V8 engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. It features a Bellamy swing axle in the front and a Ford solid axle in the rear. Finished in red paint over a brown leather interior, the hood and front and rear wheel arches are made of steel, and the front panels, doors and tail are made of aluminum. The car was delivered in January 1948 to the official Allard dealer in Belfast/UK. Allard Motor Company Limited was a London-based low-volume car manufacturer founded in 1945 by Sydney Allard in Clapham, Southwest London. The company produced cars for roughly a decade, producing approximately 1,900 cars before it became insolvent and ceased trading in 1958. Allard vehicles featured large American V8 engines in a light British chassis and body, giving a high power-to-weight ratio used to race in the '40s and '50s.
