This '79 Anniversary Trans Am is one of the 1,817 built with the W72 package, which consists of the 400ci Pontiac motor, Borg Warner close-ratio 4-speed, 3:23 posi-traction rear and the WS6 suspension 4-wheel disc brakes option. This is a very correct and well-documented example. Over 40 pages of documentation exist verifying the owner history, service and maintenance history, and verifying the low mileage. PHS documents show this car was sold new in Rochester, NY, then the car traveled to
Georgia in the early '80s. After spending 25 years in Georgia, it made its way to California in 2011. This car has a 58,000 actual mileage title. The warm climates have allowed this rare Trans Am to remain in excellent, well-preserved condition. This is verified by the original federal trade labels perfectly intact on the driver's door. The trunk contains the properly secured space-saver spare tire with inflation canister. The panel fit and gaps are near perfect, and the engine compartment is in factory-correct condition. This is a true matching-numbers car; the original factory-installed VIN sequence is found on the front of the engine block and the side of the 4-speed transmission. The silver and grey paint scheme, the special decal package, the silver interior, the silver T-tops and the silver turbo-style wheels are all unique to this 10th Anniversary Y89 package car.
