Description
This Torino 427ci 5-speed is one of the 1,613 Ford Torino GT convertibles produced in 1971. It has hidden headlights, power top, power steering, power brakes and a 5-speed manual transmission. What started as a clean, straight, minimal-rust vehicle is now a Resto-Mod that can be driven daily. It features today's braking capabilities, high horsepower, better handling and today's dependability. The process includes having media-blasted the body and replaced any damaged sheet metal as needed. Minimal body filler was utilized during the build, and the vehicle shows straight and true. During the build, most of the chrome was either replaced with new or was rechromed as needed. The power top hydraulics were rebuilt, and a new top and glass rear window were installed. The interior carpet and seats were reupholstered and show like new. The original motor was a 351 Cleveland that was replaced with a 427 Windsor crate motor, displacing 427ci. The motor is a bulletproof 427 Ford Racing Boss, Big Bore Xtreme Block, with aluminum Twisted Wedge-style heads. The motor is balanced to racing tolerances and blueprinted. It has forged GSX series pistons and 4-bolt main. The motor runs on premium pump fuel with no hesitation or run-on. Additional installments include a Quick Fuel Technology 750cfm carburetor, matched to an Edelbrock, 351W rpm airgap-intake manifold. This motor was mated to a Tremec 5-speed transmission and retained the 3.25 rear-end gear ratio. A custom aluminum radiator keeps the motor cool, even on hot days. The stance was lowered by 1', and new front and rear sway bars and bushings were installed. KYB shocks, ball joints, tie rods, steering box and Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners. New headers and full exhaust are also in place. All fuel and brake lines were replaced as well as the steering wheel and horns. Classic American Racing wheels and BFGoodrich tires completed the stance of this classic.
Features a 351 Windsor, stroked to 427ci with a Tremec 5-speed, 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes and a fresh build. One of the 1,613 Ford Torino GT convertibles produced in 1971.
