Extremely rare and sought-after Mercedes with only 1,112 examples ever built during the 3-year span of production from 1958-1960. Professional, top-level restoration by marque expert Michael Jensen was completed in 2002, a 3-and-a-half-year undertaking. Stunning in every aspect, no details were overlooked. It has less than 300 careful miles since completion. This exquisite example has always been a solid California and Arizona car and still retains its original rock-solid floors, trunk and
subframe. It is powered by the fuel-injected 2.2-liter 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed synchromesh transmission. Advanced for its time, the 220SE came with 4-wheel independent coil-sprung suspension. This car was restored as it was originally optioned, with code 40 Schwarz/Black exterior and 1079 red leather interior, an extremely rare and desirable color combination. The engine, transmission and differential are original, with numbers matching to the vehicle. Included in the sale are the original owner's manuals and tool kit. In March of this year, this car came out of single ownership since 1985.
