The Project American Heroes Camaro is the second magazine-documented vehicle built with proceeds of the sale going to the Armed Forces Foundation which helps veterans and returning men and women of the Armed Forces. This project provides a unique, prestigious opportunity as it is documented in six issues of 'Super Chevy' magazine and a special 100-page feature. This Camaro was professionally built by Route 66 Motorsports in New Lenox, IL, with parts provided by over 25 major automotive aftermarket manufacturers from a rendering supplied by Eric Brockmeyer. The car features a complete performance suspension from Detroit Speed and Engineering with min-tub and quadra-link rear along with hydro-formed sub-frame front, sway bars and all related components. A Baer Brakes new '6P' system provides exceptional stopping power with 13' rotors and 6 piston calipers. The LS7-based 427 engine was built and tuned by Turnkey Engine Supply from a GMMG supplied block, Lunati rotating assembly, Comp Cams valvetrain, RHS heads, and Weiand intake. The TCI-provided Turbo 400 transmission is back by a Gearvendors overdrive unit for performance and mileage. The Bassani exhaust provides a free-flowing exhaust exit for spent gasses that gives a deep and mellow tone. A Strange Engineering S60 rear end completes the driveline. The custom wheels are Intro G-Cube style wheels with optional black centers wrapped with BFGoodrich G-Force KDW radials. Body replacement panels were supplied by Classic Industries including the custom hood and scoop combination and installed by Route 66 Motorsports. PPG Industries supplied the Torch Red paint along with all paint materials. Classic Industries also supplied the new glass, weather stripping, door panels, carpeting kit and interior components. Thermo-Tec provided a sound suppression and heat absorption material throughout the interior and trunk for superior sound deadening. Classic Dash by Covan's supplied the dash insert complete with Autometer gauges. Electric Life power windows and door locks provide full function driver comforts. Classic Industries provided Scat Procar front seats and stock replacement rear seats in a matching cover material. Marquez Design custom billet tail light assemblies were used. Ididit provided a tilt steering column with an Intro G-Cub steering wheel. The JVC audio system from Carparts.com provides superior sound entertainment. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Armed Forces Foundation, which offers programs for veterans of the Armed Forces such as the Family Assistance Program, Injured Support Services, a Bereavement Program, and many others.
