Details

A complete frame-off restoration of a very rare sunroof model. An original light yellow car that was completely disassembled and painted above, below, inside and out. Powered by a 2 cylinder air cooled engine with 4-speed transmission. All mechanicals were rebuilt or replaced including brake shoes, cylinders and lines. All rubber seals and lenses were replaced. The chrome is fresh and excellent. It has been nicely reupholstered with original-type fabric, headliner and rubber floor mats. The

fiberboard spare tire cover is intact and in good condition. The engine runs excellent. The exhaust system is complete and is the rare original type. The glass is excellent and it has new tires. Includes optional stainless steel rear luggage rack, the optional and very rare red sun visor over windshield that really set this car off. Between 1957 and 1959, 34,800 of these were sold worldwide, and of these, 1,500 were sold in the US. The original base list price was $1,398. FOB NewYork. The folding sunroof was a $89 option. The car can seat 4, 2 in the front, and 2 in the rear through the single right side door. This is why they called it a Limo, vs. the 2 seat Isetta which shares the same front door. The rear seat back folds down to provide a large cargo area. Odometer shows 1450 km since the rebuild. The windshield still has the 1960 Texas inspection sticker on it. It runs and drives very well and is a real eye catcher that is really fun to drive. Brochures of the day claimed a top speed of 65 mph and 50 MPG, although I've never had it above 50. Original owner's manual, shop manual and copy of 1962 title are included. This very rare well optioned vehicle is sure to please. You will not be disappointed.
