SCOTTSDALE, AZ. –June 21, 2011 – Barrett-Jackson announced today that they will auction a 2011 Mustang GT designed specifically for action-sports icon and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk at the 2nd Annual Barrett-Jackson Orange County Auction on June 24-26 at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California. All of the funds raised from this Tony Hawk custom 2011 Mustang GT auction will benefit the Center for Living Peace and the Tony Hawk Foundation. The Center for Living Peace is a non-profit that helps people with their own special gifts to live peacefully and make a difference. At least 50 percent of programming time and space is dedicated to children’s and young adults’ classes and programs. The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth through the development of free, public skateparks_._

The “Hawkized Stang,” as it has been nicknamed, was designed by Galpin Auto Sports and is part of a larger “Total California Experience” package. The package includes; dinner with the legend himself; Tony Hawk autographed merchandise, tickets to his annual ‘Stand Up For Skateparks’ event in Las Vegas and a taco party for 50 catered by Wahoo’s Fish Taco’s.

“This is one of only two cars designed specifically for Tony Hawk and we are extraordinarily pleased to have such a crown jewel of an automobile in our Orange County auction,” says Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. Craig Jackson, Barrett-Jackson chairman and CEO continues, “The Hawkized vehicle will be auctioned to benefit the Center for Living Peace and the Tony Hawk Foundation, both of which are organizations that inspire children to find their sense of purpose and boost their self-confidence. It is a sincere pleasure to support their efforts at our Orange County Auction this year and their participation in the auction will exponentially contribute to the overall success of our unique lifestyle event.”

The 2011 Mustang GT (Lot #362) features a custom Katzkin leather interior and a 5.0-liter V8 tuned to produce 425 hp. For the exterior, Galpin Auto Sports gave it a Street Scene body kit, upper and lower side scoops, custom grille, and tinted lights. DUB contributed a set of TIS three-piece wheels and Pirelli Tires. A Flowmaster exhaust system and Ford Racing lowering springs were installed to produce an aggressive stance. The car includes a cutting edge JL audio system and a customized paint job incorporating a “Hawkized” logo on the hood, as well as a Tony Hawk monogram emblazoned on the side.

“I’m proud to have created this custom Mustang with the help of DUB and Galpin Ford. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind ride, and the proceeds from this sale will benefit two great causes that support youth,” says Tony Hawk.

Southern California native Tony Hawk, began skateboarding at age 9 and by the age of 12 he was winning amateur contests throughout California. He turned pro at age 14 and by 16 he was widely regarded as the best competitive skateboarder in the world. Today, Hawk remains one of the most recognized action-sports figures and one of the most well-respected lifestyle brands in the world. And even with all of his success, Tony has remained loyal to his fans from day one, giving back to youth and the subculture every chance he gets.

About the Center for Living Peace

The Center for Living Peace in Orange County (goodhappens.org) was founded in May 2010 and believes in making “Good Happen” by providing classes that promote peace; including classes in peace-making and effective communication, inner work and development, safeguarding the environment, and arts and culture. The Center’s goal is to create a place where each and every person can discover their special gifts and feel empowered to make a difference.

About the Tony Hawk Foundation

The Tony Hawk Foundation promotes high quality, public skateparks in low-income areas throughout the United States. The Foundation recognizes that not every area can afford to build big, expensive skateparks, but feels strongly that public skateparks should be designed and constructed by experienced contractors. The Foundation also advocates that local officials treat public skateparks the same as public basketball courts or tennis courts, meaning anyone may show up and use them anytime, unsupervised. State and local governments, including school districts and parks departments, as well as nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply. The foundation also provides free technical assistance to grant recipients in the designing of their skateparks.
