For over three decades, a special week each January has been recognized by each Scottsdale mayor with a proclamation declaring “Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Week.” The proclamation recognizes the auction as an important tradition for the residents of Scottsdale, a premier event of its kind and applauds Barrett-Jackson for “creating a positive economic impact upon Scottsdale, the Valley of the Sun and the State of Arizona.”

This year, Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega has declared the week of January 18, 2025, Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction week.

Barrett-Jackson has called Scottsdale its home right from its start, when in the 1960s Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson staged a car show known as the Fiesta de los Autos Elegantes to raise funds for a local charity. The car show concept quickly evolved into the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company and, in 1989, the Scottsdale Auction found its new home at WestWorld of Scottsdale.

“We have continued to enjoy an incredible relationship with the city’s leadership over the years,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We are proud to call Scottsdale our home. It is an honor to receive Mayor Ortega’s proclamation as we bring the national and international spotlight on Scottsdale for another exciting event.”
