LOT #1404 – 2014 MERCEDES-BENZ G63 AMG 6X6 – NO RESERVE
In the realm of high-performance luxury trucks and SUVs, few vehicles command attention like the 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 (Lot #1404). A blend of brute power, over-the-top engineering and unparalleled exclusivity, this behemoth represents the pinnacle of off-road capability paired with Mercedes-Benz’s signature opulence. Built in Graz, Austria, by Magna Steyr between 2013 and 2015, the G63 AMG 6×6 was an audacious project that exemplified the ethos of “because we can.” With only 100 units ever produced, each vehicle remains a testament to automotive excess and ingenuity.
The G63 AMG 6×6 was born out of a military-grade vehicle originally developed for the Australian army. That version, the G-Class 6×6, was a bare-bones, utilitarian truck designed to conquer extreme terrains. Mercedes-Benz’s decision to transform this platform into a consumer-oriented, high-performance luxury vehicle was nothing short of extraordinary. With input from AMG ‒ Mercedes-Benz’s performance division ‒ and a mandate to retain the military-grade toughness while infusing the creature comforts expected by its elite clientele, the G63 AMG 6×6 was unveiled to the world in 2013. It quickly became the stuff of legends, capturing imaginations with its outrageous size, six-wheel drive system and luxurious appointments.
The 6×6’s purpose extended beyond mere opulence. It demonstrated Mercedes-Benz’s technical prowess and ability to adapt military-grade components for civilian use without sacrificing comfort or performance. Its six-wheel-drive system, for instance, splits power 30:40:30 between the front, middle and rear axles, ensuring traction on virtually any surface. The dual-range transfer case and five electronic differential locks provide an unmatched level of control over challenging terrains, from desert dunes to snow-covered trails.
Everything about the G63 AMG 6×6 screams cool. First and foremost, it’s the sheer size. At over 19 feet long, 7 feet wide and standing nearly 7.5 feet tall, the G63 AMG 6×6 dwarfs almost any other vehicle on the road. Its towering presence is further emphasized by massive 37-inch Pro Comp Extreme MT2 tires mounted on 18-inch beadlock wheels, ensuring it can handle any terrain with ease.
Under the hood lies a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine, delivering ferocious power. This particular example has been upgraded by Weistec Engineering with enhanced turbochargers, downpipes, a modified ECU and a 3-inch exhaust system. The result is an even more potent version of the already formidable V8, mated to an AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission.
Adding to its allure is the advanced suspension system, featuring three portal axles and Ohlins gas bypass shocks. Portal axles not only increase ground clearance but also allow for improved off-road articulation. The 6×6’s built-in air compressor system, controlled from within the cabin, lets drivers inflate or deflate the tires on the fly to adapt to changing terrain ‒ a feature borrowed directly from its military roots.
But it’s not just about off-road capability. The interior of the G63 AMG 6×6 is a masterclass in luxury. This example’s cabin is trimmed in Designo black leather with contrasting red stitching and quilted Porcelain accents, providing seating for four in a setting that rivals a high-end lounge. Carbon-fiber trim, Alcantara headliners and an array of technology ‒ including a Harman Kardon surround-sound system and rear-seat entertainment ‒ underscore its dual-purpose nature as both a rugged adventurer and a rolling palace.
This 2014 G63 AMG 6×6 was imported to the U.S. under a “show or display” exemption. Federalized by G&K Automotive Conversion of Santa Ana, California, it complies with the necessary regulations while retaining its European essence. With just 5,471 miles on the odometer, this 6×6 remains in exceptional condition, finished in the striking Designo Magno Night Black exterior paint. The bold styling is complemented by carbon-fiber fender flares, tubular rear bumpers, a chrome roll bar and bi-xenon headlights.
The cabin continues the theme of bespoke luxury, featuring heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control and advanced driver-assistance systems like Parktronic, blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. The controls for the air-compressor system and auxiliary gauges mounted in the overhead console hint at its utilitarian DNA, seamlessly integrated into a plush, tech-laden interior.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 exemplifies a no-compromise approach to design and engineering, merging military-grade toughness with AMG’s performance pedigree and Mercedes-Benz’s luxury expertise. Register to bid for your chance to take it home. This example is selling with No Reserve at the 2025 Scottsdale Auction, Jan. 18-26 at WestWorld.
