Posted by Barrett-Jackson
At the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, Barrett-Jackson presented 12 remarkable vehicles from the David M. Ressler Collection. A longtime member of the Barrett-Jackson family, Ressler was known for matching his sportscoats to the cars he sold at the auction, as well as his deep passion for Corvettes and his generous spirit, which included community outreach and supporting charitable foundations throughout his life. At the 2025 Scottsdale Auction, slated for January 18-26 at WestWorld, an additional 18 Chevrolet Corvettes from this notable collection will cross the block with No Reserve.
One of the standout vehicles offered is a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, one of just 1,577 produced that year. Beneath its hood lies a supercharged LS9 V8 engine, delivering 638 horsepower through a 6-speed manual transmission. Finished in Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat with a Cashmere interior, this ZR1 includes all the OEM features, such as magnetic select ride control and Brembo ceramic brakes. What sets this example apart, however, is its remarkably low mileage ‒ it has only accumulated 11 miles since new.
What made the C5 Corvette so special was its revolutionary LS1 engine, lightweight composite body and performance-tuned suspension, which allowed the car to deliver a blend of power, handling and affordability that redefined American sports cars in the late ’90s and early 2000s. The Ressler Collection includes a 2001 Z06 example from the C5 generation that was the first of 634 finished in Millenium Yellow built that year.
Completing the Z06 lineup is a 2006 model, a standout from the C6 Corvette generation. With just 41 miles on the odometer, this Z06 is powered by a 505-horsepower, 7.0-liter V8 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It’s one of only 6,272 Z06s produced that year.
When the C4 Corvette made its debut in 1984, it quickly became desirable for its sleek, modern design and its focus on improved handling and aerodynamics, along with its many advanced tech features. The C4 generation concluded with the 1996 model year, represented in the collection by a Chevrolet Corvette Collector’s Edition convertible and a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. While each of these Corvettes received the 5.7-liter V8 engine, the Collector’s Edition convertible was fitted with a 4-speed automatic transmission and 300 horsepower. The Grand Sport, on the other hand, received a 6-speed manual transmission and 330 horsepower.
There’s an undeniable allure to owning the first of its kind, and the David M. Ressler Collection offers bidders the opportunity to acquire two VIN 001 Corvettes from the C5 generation. The collection’s 1998 Chevrolet Corvette convertible and 1999 Chevrolet Corvette both feature the prized 001 VIN. Each is powered by a 345-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Where they stand apart is in mileage: the 1998 model has 203 miles, while the 1999 Corvette has logged just 67 miles.
The 50th anniversary of the Corvette in 2003 celebrated five decades of heritage with exclusive styling packages and unique commemorative badges that embodied the Corvette’s legacy and evolution as an American icon. The collection includes two unique Corvettes from that year with noteworthy VINs: VIN 003 and a 50th Anniversary Indy Pace Car convertible special-ordered with a VIN ending in 1953 to honor the Corvette’s inaugural year. Both cars are equipped with a 350-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The VIN 003 model includes the exclusive 50th Anniversary Edition equipment package, while the 50th Anniversary Indy Pace Car convertible, one of just 7,547 produced in 50th Anniversary Red, is outfitted with the commemorative Indy Pace Car graphics package.
Chevrolet has a long history of using various models to pace some of the most iconic races. Pace cars combine race-ready performance with exclusive styling to capture the excitement of high-speed motorsports while bridging the gap between track and street. The 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Official Indy 500 Pace Car from the collection was used during the 88th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 30, 2004. Driven by Academy Award-winning actor, producer and narrator Morgan Freeman, it sports a patriotic red, white and blue paint scheme and is equipped with a safety strobe light system, adding to its authentic appeal. Others in this group include a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car convertible with only 12 miles on the odometer, one of just 500 produced that year. A 1998 Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car convertible, one of 1,163 made, has just 19 miles, while a 1995 Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car convertible is one of 527 pace cars built for that year. Completing the lineup is a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car convertible.
Rounding out the collection are four impressive Corvettes that span both the C5 and C6 generations. The lineup includes a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette with only 65 miles, powered by a 430-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine paired with a 6-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. There’s also a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette featuring a 400-horsepower 6.0-liter LS2 V8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. Adding to the mix is a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette convertible featuring a 345-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission and just 1,301 miles. A 1997 Chevrolet Corvette with a 345-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission completes this exceptional offering.
From the stunning 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 to unique special editions, VIN 001s and iconic pace cars, each Corvette from the David M. Ressler Collection celebrates Ressler’s legacy while giving Barrett-Jackson bidders a unique chance to acquire an exceptional piece of Corvette history.
