2024 SCOTTSDALE FALL AUCTION – 1993 CHEVROLET CORVETTE ZR1 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION – NO RESERVE

David M. Ressler is fondly remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering work ethic and deep passion for Corvettes. Starting as a school bus driver, he climbed the ranks of the automotive industry, eventually becoming a car salesman and later owning his first dealership. His relentless dedication saw him expand his business to multiple dealerships across Montana. Despite his success, Ressler never lost sight of the importance of giving back, remaining deeply involved in community outreach and charitable foundations throughout his life. Sadly, he passed away in November 2017 due to heart-related issues, but his legacy of kindness and community impact continues to inspire.

David M. Ressler

Ressler was a longtime member of the extended Barrett-Jackson family. In 2006, he gifted a special 1988 Chevrolet 35th Anniversary Edition Corvette to Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson and his mother, Nellie. Following Ressler’s passing, the car was donated in his honor to support the American Heart Association as part of Barrett-Jackson’s Driven Hearts charity initiative, spearheaded by Chief Brand Officer Carolyn Jackson and aimed at raising funds and awareness for heart health. While the special white Corvette was on the block, Craig Jackson and Barrett-Jackson President Steve Davis donned white jackets, a nod to Ressler’s signature style of matching his attire to the cars he sold at the auction ‒ a tradition that symbolized his vibrant spirit and enduring impact on the automotive community.

Barrett-Jackson is honored to present 12 vehicles from David M. Ressler’s collection, a showcase of his enduring passion for Corvettes. Fittingly, 10 of the 12 cars are Corvettes, including an impressive set of six consecutive C4 ZR1 models from 1990 to 1995. The ZR1 nameplate, originally introduced on the 1970-72 C3 Corvette, went on hiatus after 1995 and wouldn’t reappear until 2009 as an option on the C6 Corvette. Ressler’s collection beautifully captures this iconic era of Corvette history, reflecting his deep connection to the marque.

Production numbers for the C4 ZR1 were low each model year, making each example a rare find, but one standout among Ressler’s collection is the 1993 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 40th Anniversary Edition ‒ the last ZR1 Corvette produced that year. Only 448 ZR1s were built in 1993 and, like the other C4 ZR1s in the collection, this car is powered by a 5.7-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Notable features of these ZR1s include heavy-duty brakes, a removable roof and six-way power leather seats, offering a blend of performance and comfort. All six ZR1s in the collection have exceptionally low mileage, with a combined total of less than 500 miles, underscoring their pristine condition.

In addition to the six consecutive-year ZR1s, the collection includes a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th anniversary edition, a 1982 Chevrolet Collector’s Edition and models from 1984 and 1987. Rounding out the offering is a 1977 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine and a custom 1991 Geo Dirt Tracker (a GM concept car).

David M. Ressler’s collection, a testament to his love for Corvettes and his appreciation for automotive history, will be sold in two parts: 12 cars will be offered with No Reserve at the Scottsdale Fall Auction in October, with additional vehicles crossing the block in January at the 2025 Scottsdale Auction. Each collectible reflects Ressler’s passion, attention to detail and dedication to preserving the legacy of these iconic American sports cars.

From the rare consecutive-year ZR1s to unique anniversary editions, every vehicle tells a story of Ressler’s commitment to the Corvette community. As these cherished vehicles cross the auction block, they not only honor Ressler’s memory but also provide Barrett-Jackson bidders the opportunity to add something special to their collections. Register to bid today to take one or all of them home with you at the Oct. 10-13 Scottsdale Fall Auction.
