This 2016 Shelby GT-H prototype (Lot #3003) is one of six charity vehicles on the docket for Barrett-Jackson’s inaugural Northeast Auction.
While Barrett-Jackson has grown over the years into The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®, the company has had its roots in helping others from the very start. Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson staged the “Fiesta de los Autos Elegantes” vintage car show in 1967 to raise money for a new library and planned arts center in Scottsdale, Arizona. It turned out to be the start of something big.
For the past 45 years, Barrett-Jackson has been honored to be able to use its famous auction block as a platform to raise much-needed awareness and funds for charitable organizations. Through the auction of vehicles for charity, more than $89 million has been raised to date for worthy causes on both the local and national levels. When a “car for a cause” is on the block and that gavel comes down, 100 percent of the winning bid goes directly to the benefiting organization, as Barrett-Jackson waives all fees on charity vehicles.
“Barrett-Jackson has a strong legacy of raising money for local and national charities,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “The vehicles that cross the block to benefit charities continue the tradition started long ago by my father, Russ Jackson, and Tom Barrett. We are proud make a difference and do what we can to help those in need.”
Lot #3003, a 2016 Shelby GT-H prototype, will be auctioned to benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation.
Now, Barrett-Jackson is excited to bring that same charitable spirit to its new Northeast Auction, where the generosity of bidders and consignors continues to shine as six vehicles cross the block to benefit some great causes.
Among them is a 2016 Shelby GT-H (Lot #3003), a unique piece of history that is the first of only 170 total 2016 model-year Shelby GT-H coupes to be built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Ford, Hertz and Shelby American car. This prototype of the limited-edition muscle car will be auctioned to benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which is dedicated to providing medical assistance and educational opportunities for children and adults. Based on the new-generation Ford Mustang, the stunning black and gold car comes with a performance-ready 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a smooth 6-speed automatic, and features a ferocious special exhaust, badges and interior trim only available on the Shelby GT-H.
Here’s a look at the five other “cars for a cause” on the docket for our Northeast Auction:
NFL and Carolina Panthers all-pro tight end Greg Olsen will be on stage to auction Lot #3000, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Custom Convertible.
