LOT #760 – SAMMY HAGAR’S 2015 FERRARI LAFERRARI – SOLD! $4,675,000
The arena was rockin’ on Super Saturday during the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, on Oct. 12 at WestWorld! The “Red Rocker,” Sammy Hagar, joined Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson and President Steve Davis on the auction block for the $4.675 million sale of his 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari (Lot #760), setting a new world auction record. During the special sale of the “I Can’t Drive 55” star’s supercar, Hagar offered the winning bidder the opportunity to join him in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where his famous bar, Cabo Wabo Cantina, is located, for a special concert and his birthday celebration.
The auction arena continued to buzz with excitement as Ferraris claimed top spots among the day’s highest sales. A 2022 Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano (Lot #762) sold for $599,500, followed by a 2023 Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano (Lot #750), which sold for $528,000. Rounding out the top Ferrari trio was Lot #751, a classic 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe, crossing the block for $506,000 at the Scottsdale Fall Auction.
Ford made an impressive mark in the day’s top sales, headlined by a stunning 2019 Ford GT (Lot #769) that sold for $880,000. Following the GT was a matching-numbers 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 (Lot #749), which found a new home for $462,000. A 1968 Ford Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition (Lot #687) crossed the block for $451,000, while a 2006 Ford GT (Lot #758) brought in $423,500. The Blue Ovals were further highlighted by the sale of a 1966 Shelby GT40 MKII 50th Anniversary (Lot #746), which sold for $396,000.
A stunning 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Resto-Mod custom roadster (Lot #778) also secured its place among the day’s Top 10 sales, crossing the block for $550,000. This beautifully crafted custom Corvette grabbed the attention of bidders and spectators alike.
The adrenaline-fueled audience erupted in applause as Lot #3001, the first retail production 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ VIN 001, sold for a generous $550,000. All proceeds from the sale went to a worthy cause, with 100% of the hammer price benefiting the Detroit Children’s Fund, a nonprofit organization committed to ensuring every child in Detroit has access to an excellent education.
The Automobilia Auction fueled the morning’s excitement and prepped the audience for the spirited bidding to come with eye-catching neon signs and authentic memorabilia among other collectible cool and nostalgic items. The day’s top seller was a 1920s Texaco Oil visible gas pump (Lot #9475), which sold for $80,500; followed by a large circa 1950s American Flag porcelain with animated neon sign (Lot #9495) for $47,725 and a 1940s Muny Bait & Tackle Shop neon tin sign (Lot #9493) for $34,500. Rounding out the day’s top sales was a late 1940s-early ’50s Chevron Oil porcelain with neon sign (Lot #9494.1), a 1950s Mobil Oil Pegasus right-facing porcelain neon sign (Lot #9498) and a circa 1930s-40s Shell Oil neon porcelain sign (Lot #9499), each selling for $32,200.
Following the Automobilia Auction was a special presentation from the Friends of Freedom Foundation who, together with the Tribute to Valor Foundation, are sending children from Arizona’s San Carlos Apache Reservation to NASA in Houston for three days to engage them in STEM programs. Onstage with the children was Medal of Honor recipient Command Sergeant Major Gary Littrell. The occasion was further punctuated by a special singing of “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” by pop/rock icon Tony Orlando.
One of Arizona’s favorite chefs, Mark Tarbell, judged the first Open Chef Challenge of the day during the Southwest Chef Showdown, which continued with more head-to-head battles throughout the day. To add to the electric super Saturday energy, Yachtzilla took to the South Showcase music stage and entertained guests with yacht rock favorites.
There’s still time to enjoy everything the auction has to offer, with more collector cars set to cross the auction block on QuikTrip Family Day, Sunday, October 13 ‒ the final day of the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction. The 2024 Fall Future Collector Car Show is included with auction admission and will crown a Best of Show winner Sunday afternoon. Tickets are available online and, for those at home, you can catch “All the Cars, All the Time” on the Barrett-Jackson livestream.
