The bidding continued to heat up in the auction arena as more than 100 pieces of colorful automobilia and nearly 200 collector cars took their turn on the famous Barrett-Jackson stage on Friday.

Most notable was the sale of the second charity vehicle at the 2020 Fall Auction – which caught everyone’s attention when rolling up on stage with its distinctive train horn! The custom 2019 Ford F-250 Lariat pickup known as the “Ultimate Tailgate Truck” was created by Truck Hero to debut at the 2018 SEMA Show and hit the truck show circuit through 2019. The truck brought the gavel down on a winning bid of $275,000, all of which will benefit Building Homes for Heroes, which gifts mortgage-free homes that meet the needs of the men and women who have selflessly served our country. The lucky winning bidder will also get treated to a Truck Hero VIP Tailgate Party that includes tickets to a 2021 University of Michigan home game and an accessories package worth $1,000.

The diversity of the Barrett-Jackson collector car docket was in full view Friday, with a wide variety of makes and models catching bidders’ eyes and winding up as top sellers for the day, with a number of new auction records set as well. Cool collectibles topping Friday’s sales included a 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible, a 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR Custom Widebody, a 1934 Ford 3-Window Custom Coupe and a 1955 Mercury Montclair Convertible.

This 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible was among the top sellers on Friday, going home with a sold sticker of $89,100.

The morning began with an incredible walk down memory lane during the Automobilia Auction, where brightly blinking neon signs and gleaming gas pumps reigned supreme on Friday. The top seller was a large Shell Oil neon porcelain sign from 1929, which went to its new home for $18,400, closely followed by a late 1950s-early 1960s Texaco Oil neon porcelain sign that sold for $17,825. A Texaco Oil visible gas pump dating from 1928 took top honors among gas pumps on Friday, selling for $13,800. Soda collectibles remain hot on the block, too – as evidenced by the sale of a Coca-Cola soda machine from the 1950s, which brought in $8,625.

Take a look at the gallery below of highlights from around the auction site and in the arena on Friday – and get ready for a signature “Super Saturday” to wind up this special Barrett-Jackson Fall Auction!
