Another great Barrett-Jackson moment: At the 2017 Scottsdale Auction, Steven Tyler roared onto the stage in his 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder (Lot #3003), which brought in $800,000 for the charity he helped found, Janie’s Fund.
In one of many memorable moments during the 2017 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January, the lights dimmed in the packed arena and there was a momentary expectant hush. Then the crowd went wild as a multi-media experience began to play – set to the Aerosmith hit “Back in the Saddle Again” – and, with Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson behind the wheel, rocker Steven Tyler blasted onto the stage in his incredible Hennessey Venom GT. Tyler himself brought the gavel down on a sale price of $800,000, all to benefit his charity, Janie’s Fund.
Priceless moments like these have become a signature of Barrett-Jackson’s unique collector car auctions. Through the amazing generosity of the consignors and bidders, over $93 million has been raised to date for worthy causes, with 100 percent of the hammer price of each charity vehicle going directly to the benefitting organization.
The next generation of auto specialists at Jordan Vocational High School in Columbus, Georgia, stand in front of their competition-winning ’96 Ford Mustang (Lot #3001).
Five of these special vehicles will be featured at the 2017 Palm Beach Auction. They include the winning entry from Quaker State’s “Best in Class Challenge” – a 1996 Ford Mustang (Lot #3001) restored and customized by members of the automotive program team at Jordan Vocational High School based in Columbus, Georgia, which will benefit from the sale of the car.
Other charity cars at the Palm Beach Auction will be a stunning 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE (Lot #3002) donated by General Motors to benefit the United Way, a 2007 Ford Mustang GT Custom Fastback (Lot #3003) for The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, a 1969 International Travelall (Lot #3000) to help the Boy Scouts of America, and a 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4×4 SuperCrew (Lot #3004) formerly owned by President George W. Bush ‒ with its hammer price going to the Community Foundation of Cleveland and Bradley County, Tennessee.
“Supporting charity has always been part of our DNA,” said Craig Jackson. “No other collector car auction has come close to the money we have helped raise over the years. Because we take absolutely no commissions on the sale of charity cars, every penny raised from these special sales goes directly to the cause. It’s a privilege to be a catalyst that helps these groups fulfill their missions.”
