Complimentary Behind The Hobby Collector Car Symposiums at every Barrett-Jackson auction give attendees the inside scoop on the car collecting hobby from a variety of respected automotive experts.

Collecting cars is a passion, and whether you own one vehicle, a dozen or are just starting out, Barrett-Jackson’s vast resources and knowledge base are readily available at each auction.

At each Barrett-Jackson auction, a series of complimentary Behind The Hobby Collector Car Symposiums provides invaluable tips and insider advice to everyone from car enthusiasts and potential purchasers to seasoned collectors. Presented by American Car Collector, these sessions feature a variety of experts in the field, well-known names from automotive television and sometimes a surprise guest or two – all assembled by Barrett-Jackson to further the company’s goals of sharing knowledge and passing the collector car hobby on to future generations.

One such discussion at the 2017 Northeast Auction was “Top Twelve Questions to Ask When Buying a Collector Car.” Featuring noted Corvette experts Roy and Anthony Sinor, as well as Ken Lingenfelter of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, this symposium covered everything from the importance of finding out about a car’s provenance (the history of ownership of a vehicle) to why you should examine both a vehicle’s interior and undercarriage. The lesson learned overall? The more you learn about the car before you bid on it, the less surprises you’ll find as you own it in the years ahead.

At other sessions, experts took symposium attendees “under the hood” to discuss the anatomy of the ideal collector car, and gave an in-depth, advanced look at the hobby from the eyes of professionals in the field. While symposium topics vary from auction to auction, each provides invaluable insight into a hobby that continues to increase in popularity each year.
