This beautiful – and stock – 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo Anniversary Edition (Lot #677) is headed to Las Vegas with No Reserve.
Finding a Supra sans modifications makes for a truly rare and special find. Because of its notoriety as a holy grail of tunable performance and starring role in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, most fourth-generation Toyota Supras have been modified. But not all. On offer with No Reserve as Lot #677 at the Las Vegas Auction is this beautiful – and stock – Supra Turbo. Manufactured in Kanto, Japan, in August 1997, this 15th Anniversary Edition is one of just 1,379 examples sold in the United States for the 1997 model year and one of just 768 equipped with the twin-turbo inline-6 engine and a 6-speed Getrag manual gearbox. The Twin-Turbo charged engine produces a solid 320 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 315 ft/lbs of torque at 4,000 rpm – enough to propel the 3,285-pound Grand Tourer to 60 mph in just a hair over 4 seconds.
The fourth-generation Supra wore an all-new skin, a rounded and muscular style that was some 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor, thanks to an all-encompassing design approach to shed extra pounds. The hood, front crossmember, oil and transmission pans, and upper suspension A-arms were all made from aluminum. The fuel tank was made from plastic, and even the interior carpeting was fastidiously considered, using hollow-core carpet fibers. Less weight meant more efficiency from the fully independent suspension and also made stopping the 3,285-pound Grand Tourer easy, with 12.6-inch rotors along with four-piston calipers up front and two-piston at the rear. Performance aside, this example is one of just 384 to wear the beautiful finish of Deep Jewel Green Pearl paint. Additionally, this car rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and features the Limited-Edition 15th Anniversary decals on the front fenders and ashtray cover. Get ready to bid – this beautiful turbocharged MKIV Supra could be the star of your garage.
