The completed RideTech 48-Hour-Build of a basic 1968 GMC C-10 Pickup (Lot #7005) crossed the block on the final day the 2017 Scottsdale Auction today for $82,500.
Visitors to the final day of the 2017 Scottsdale Auction were rewarded with plenty of sunshine, a relaxed atmosphere, a last look at many of the auction cars still on display, waiting to be shipped to their new homes, and plenty of activity in the auction arena itself.
The last of the more than 1,800 pieces of authentic automobilia took to the stage in the morning. The colorful assortment included neon signs, gas pumps, pedal cars, a 1940s-50s coin-operated candy machine and even a 1930s Bell Telephone wooden telephone booth.
Nearly 150 of the 1,700+ collector cars – the most ever consigned to a Barrett-Jackson auction – also crossed the block, with the day’s top seller being a 1956 Chevrolet Nomad Custom Station Wagon (Lot #1614). When the final gavel fell at the end of the day, total sales of collector cars and automobilia at the 2017 Scottsdale Auction amounted to more than $102.5 million
The vehicle attracting the most attention on the final day was a 1968 GMC C-10 Pickup (Lot #7005) that had been customized before event attendees’ eyes in the new DIY Pavilion by the talented team from RideTech. The 48-Hour Build saw a base truck transformed with upgraded Forgeline wheels, BFG tires, Baer brakes, Fitech EFI, No Limit Engineering fuel tank, Currie crate rear end, Vintage Air air conditioning, Classic Instruments gauges, Kicker stereo, C&R radiator, American Autowire wiring – and a new RideTech StreetGrip suspension. The completed Pro-Touring-style truck crossed the block this afternoon and sold for $82,500.
