Description

Summary

Powered by a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Includes 15-inch chrome wire wheels, adjustable steering column and the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate.

Details

The BJ8 series are the best equipped of all 'Big Healeys,' both inside and out. They are the most spacious and comfortable to drive. The cockpit features a dashboard of burled walnut, with the speedometer and tachometer moved to be directly in front of the driver. Powering this Mark III is a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Mechanically, SU HD8 carburetors increased the choke size, while power-assisted braking became standard; power output increased and a top speed of nearly 120 mph for the 1966 model was reported. According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, chassis #35959 was originally delivered to Hambro Distributors, Inc. of Compton, CA, on March 4, 1966. Equipped with 15-inch wire wheels, Roadspeed tires, a heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen and a Laycock overdrive, this Mark III was finished in Colorado Red with black trim and soft-top. The 15-inch chrome wire wheels are currently mounted with 195/65 Yokohama Avid Touring-S tires and a matching spare wheel is mounted in the trunk. Service work performed in the past three years includes the suspension, wheel cylinders, sway bar bushings, parking brake lock tabs, the brake booster, a fuel line, heater, repairs of the twin SU carburetors and replacement gaskets for the valve cover, oil pan and timing cover, replacement transmission mount and rear pinion seal. Additionally, the gearbox and overdrive system were overhauled within the past two years. Included in this sale are an owner's manual, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, service records from 2018 to present, and the soft-top boot cover. It was refinished some years ago in the original color combination of Colorado Red over a stunning black interior with white piping and matching carpets and side panels, and currently shows in excellent condition. It also features a period-correct AM/FM radio and is ready for many miles of spirited driving.
