Details
This 1968 Camaro Resto-Mod was the recipient of a professional nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration over a 2-year period that was completed in 2018 with $175,000 invested, not including the cost of the car. It has 120 test miles since its completion. It started as an original Camaro RS and has been transformed into a modern driving machine. The body was fitted with new sheet metal while retaining the original firewall, cowl and bumpers, which were reconditioned. The chassis features subframe
connectors, firewall-to-frame connectors and Detroit Speed mini-tubs. Rear suspension features include Detroit Speed shocks, General Spring 5” leaf springs with a Hotchkiss sway bar and CalTracs traction bars. The front is fitted with SPC adjustable upper control arms, KONI shocks and BMR lowering coils. This custom Camaro is powered by a professionally rebuilt E85 Flex-Fuel L59 5.3-liter LS engine with custom 12:1 compression JE pistons making 466hp at the flywheel and 374rwhp. The engine is topped with a custom intake cover and breathes through Hooker ceramic-coated headers connected to dual exhaust. It also has a Champion radiator with electric fan and custom cold-air intake. The engine is mated to an FLT 4L60E street/strip 4-speed automatic transmission with CircleD 3500-3700 stall converter and Tru-Cool cooler, turning an Eaton posi-traction rear end with a Motive ring & pinion setup. The car sits on Torq Thrust II wheels wrapped in Nitto Motivo tires. The interior features power leather seats with custom RS logos, Dakota Digital gauges, premium carpeting, power windows and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD receiver with six JL speakers and a JL 600-watt digital amplifier. The exterior is finished in Red Hot 2017 Silverado paint with a premium cloth power top with a glass rear window. Other features include power steering, CPP power brakes with drilled and slotted rotors, Vintage Air, a Heartbeat City RS grille with electric headlight doors, keyless entry and trunk release, a hitch hidden behind a fold-down license plate, and a E85 Rick’s stainless-steel gas tank with an in-tank pump. The build is fully documented with spec sheets and photos, and includes the GM of Canada Build Sheet showing how the car was configured from the factory.
