original advertised horsepower. Thus a convertible such as this will run in a lower class than its comparable hardtop version while still using the same engine. This is advantageous and often results in unlikely body styles competing on the drag strip. The car first competed in Super Stock Eliminator, a step up from the entry-level Stock Eliminator. In its day it was very competitive race car, competing in NHRA National events and setting numerous records. As is the case with many race drag cars, it has been completely rebuilt and meticulously restored to its 1970 appearance and mechanical condition. Unlike later Super Stock cars, which are permitted more extensive modifications, this car was built at a time when modifications were limited. Thus it is more true to the way Chevrolet originally manufactured it and can be driven on the street with minor changes.
