Details
A correct original 1962 VW Bug with a carefully crafted distressed look. Every inch carefully prepared and then clear coated to expert standards by Mid Century Restorations in Arizona, which specialize in this type of work. They started with a western Beetle that had no accident history and carefully prepped the paint, then applied the clear coat for a smooth finish. Even original chips in the paint were clear coated, giving this VW an amazing authentic distressed appearance that is smooth
throughout. Furthering the exterior appearance of the build is the addition of fender mirrors and a roof rack, giving the car an authentic accessorized appearance. The interior was also completely restored using original-style materials. Only the additional of an iPod jack and period tachometer hint at the improvements in both performance and look of the car. The roof liner is excellent as well, and finally a slotted rear-window shade was installed, which also adds to the overall look of the car. Under the hood is spotless with the spare tire and jack in place. The underside belly pans are in great shape, showing the car as being a dry Western car from new. To complete the look, Empi racing wheels were added with Continental tires in the front and Michelin wide tracks on the rear, all in excellent shape. The builder did not cut corners on this car, ordering a fifth performance aluminum wheel to match the four on the car. A larger '71 dual-port engine was sourced and fully rebuilt by the experts at Mid Century. The suspension was upgraded to front disc brakes, and then lowered for a stealthy California low-rider look. The car performs incredibly well, can cruise comfortably at 85 miles per hour and has recently been driven 300+ miles. The combination of the suspension upgrades, disc brakes, wheel and tire improvements make for a fast, confidently braking and comfortable cruising vintage Beetle.
